Building regulations to be reviewed – BBC

A major review of building regulations is being prepared by the Government in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire, according to the BBC.

In an exclusive report, the national broadcaster revealed civil servants had been ‘shocked’ by how rules had been interpreted and by the extent of fire safety problems across buildings in the country.

Officials are unclear if the problem is the regulations or their enforcement.

The BBC added that no date has been set for when the review will be launched and it’s likely that the police investigation and the public inquiry into the Grenfell Tower disaster will delay the announcement.
