Howe Green Ltd, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of floor, wall and ceiling access hatches, has appointed a new Production Manager to head its busy production facility in Ware.
Warren Tyce joins Howe Green at a pivotal time in the company’s history. Established in 1983 to manufacture specialist floor access solutions for the supermarket sector Howe Green has grown to a team of 26 employees and now serves a wide range of industry sectors, in the UK and internationally. Originally a family owned and operated business the company was acquired in March this year by the ERA Group and incorporated within the Bilco range of horizontal access products.
Howe Green has a reputation for technical expertise, quality and service. The company’s access covers have been specified for many high profile projects, including the recently opened Westgate Oxford and Crossrail.
Managing Director, James Fisher, explains
“Our ability to understand a particular access challenge and to develop a safe and robust solution underpins our success in this highly specialised market. Our products are precision engineered, there is no margin for error, and our customers are often working to very tight deadlines. The production department has to run like clockwork.”
“The role of the Production Manager is crucial to the continued success of the company and we needed to ensure that we selected the right person for the job. I am very happy that we have Warren on board.”
Warren joins Howe Green with 30 years of experience in a production environment. He started his career as a toolmaker with Ford Motor Company and progressed to the role of Production Systems Coordinator. After 20 years with Ford Warren left to join Philips Consumer Lifestyle as a Manufacturing Engineer with responsibility for new product innovation.
In recent years Warren has focused on developing his career around the specialised production areas of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement and is keen to apply his knowledge and expertise within Howe Green.
“I am delighted to be a part of the Howe Green team. The company is going from strength to strength, experiencing the strongest monthly sales in its 34 year history in October! I’m trying not to claim all the credit for the record breaking month although it is very rewarding to see the lean manufacturing principles being applied and already having a positive impact.”
“A large percentage of the access products that are manufactured at Howe Green are bespoke, we are involved in new product development literally every working day. It’s a specialised and fast paced industry sector that we serve and I am looking forward to the challenge of working in this environment.”
Outside of work Warren, who lives in Chelmsford, has been playing guitar for 30 years and in his spare time enjoys writing and recording music. Warren also helps manage his son’s youth football team.
In addition to Warren’s appointment the company has recently taken on an apprentice. Matthew Drake joins the Production team as an Engineering Apprentice and will be undertaking an NVQ in Engineering at Hertford Regional College.
