Signage specialist, Signbox, won the Décor Award at the British Sign Awards 2017 in November for its signs and graphics project for the London office of Alpha Bank, a leading Greek financial group. Playing a key role in the award-winning project was Lintec’s UV printable architectural film, which was utilised for iconic manifestations that appear on the office glazed partitions.
A new category at this year’s British Sign Awards, the Décor Award recognises outstanding sign making skills and materials that enhance building interiors.
Signbox printed 100 square metres of Lintec’s UV printable film (E-2200ZC) on an in-house Durst P10-160 press to form glazing manifestations that were applied to backlit glass pods on both sides of the reception desk, as well as throughout the client meeting rooms and general office areas. The Greek motif for the manifestation required a translucent bronze finish incorporating a vignette fade of white for privacy.
The manifestation graphics were prototyped by Signbox in response to a specific brief:
“We worked closely with Resonate Interior Architecture to provide iconic graphics that would stand out and bring identity to the workplace,”
says Mark Bartlett, Marketing Director at Signbox.
“The manifestations that were created help provide the perfect setting for the employees and clients of Alpha Bank.”
Bartlett is keen to point out the benefits of using Lintec’s film:
“The UV printable film manufactured by Lintec was easy to work with and the process to apply the design on to the glass was simple. Having profiled the required colours and effects onto the film, we then also applied the sophisticated taupes and bronzes throughout the office – the result is an impactful and beautiful display across Alpha Bank’s work spaces.”
Lintec’s UV printable architectural film uses unique topcoating chemistry that is designed for printing with UV-based inks. The film features a printable hard coated surface for excellent ink-adhesion combined with superior scratch resistance of non-printed areas. The film protects both the interior space and printed inks, due to its 99 per cent UV screening protection, making it ideal for outward facing glass facades.
Andy Voss, Managing Director for Lintec Europe says:
“I congratulate Signbox on winning the Décor Award – they have placed stunning graphics and displays throughout Alpha Bank’s offices and have been rightly recognised for this work. We take pride knowing Lintec’s product helped Signbox achieve this accolade.”
Mark Bartlett, Managing Director at Signbox concludes:
“We’re delighted the Alpha Bank project has received this honour. To be the first to win the Décor Award is a great honour and is reflective of the development work that went into the project.”
Attracting the largest entry of any category, the Décor Award was one of two accolades picked up by Signbox at the ceremony – it also received the Architectural Sign of the Year trophy, meaning the signage company has now won a British Sign Award four years in a row.
