Interpave will be hosting a presentation by SuDS guru Bob Bray at Vision, London Olympia, exploring innovative applications of permeable paving to optimise costs and land use for sustainable drainage, while offering imaginative designers new opportunities with water in the landscape.
Bob Bray’s presentation The role of permeable paving in SuDS – an urban landscape with water is at 11.00 on Tuesday 7th June in the Product & CPD Theatre. Bob Bray is founder of leading SuDS project designers Robert Bray Associates and has written numerous local authority guidance documents and articles, and regularly lectures on the subject.
He will be reviewing the latest thinking on Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) in urban design, now that SuDS are a planning requirement. In particular, innovative approaches to the use of concrete block permeable paving as an integrated, multi-functional SuDS technique will be discussed, including demonstrable water storage using flow controls, minimising the need for additional storage features. The amenity and biodiversity possibilities of a gradual supply of clean water in the landscape for urban design will also be explored.
Visitors and journalists can also ‘meet the expert’ at Interpave’s Stand 104 where Bob Bray will be available from 11.30 to 13.00. Interpave’s stand at Vision will celebrate the transformative power of inspired hard landscape in our cities. It focuses on opportunities for new uses of water in urban design, presented by government requirements for SuDS on developments and enabled by recent innovations with concrete block permeable paving. It will also showcase contemporary hard landscape designs with all types of precast concrete paving and kerbs, meeting the widest sustainability criteria.
