Good acoustic design in schools brings positive educational outcomes and the latest decorative acoustic panelling system from Icopal – Monarfloor® Absorption Panels – will help to do just that; contributing to a healthy sound environment by controlling reverberant noise and complying with the latest Building Regulations – without compromising aesthetics.
Suitable for classrooms, canteens, sport halls and other areas throughout a school campus and meeting the Department for Education’s Building Bulletin 93 (BB93) regulations, Icopal’s Monarfloor® Absorption Panels absorb high levels of sound energy within a room. Creating softer, more comfortable acoustic surroundings and the optimum environment for effective teaching and learning.
The panels can be specified to partially cover existing walls or ceilings and can be used to create visual contrast or even enhance existing architectural features. For complete design flexibility, the panels are available from stock in a selection of standard sizes and three fabric finishes, each offered in a large range of colours. There is also the option to special order other panel sizes and thicknesses should the need arise.
Manufactured from sound absorbing melamine resin and thermoset plastic open-cell foam base board, Monarfloor® Absorption Panels are covered with a high quality acoustically transparent fabric and are flame retardant to DIN 4102 (Bi) and BS476 (Class1).
Monarfloor® Absorption Panels can be fixed to the wall using Monarfloor® Absorption Panel Spacers or bonded directly to walls using Monarfloor® Adhesive. To accommodate sockets and switches, they can be cut on site for any cut out, or Icopal can do this in the factory after site measure.
Icopal’s Technical Department, urges architects, contractors and acoustic consultants to involve Icopal early on in the design process, explaining:
“Poor acoustics in schools can affect both teachers and students alike, so whether it is a refurbishment project to solve poor classroom acoustics or the acoustic design solution for a completely new school building, the earlier we get involved the better. We have great expertise in-house and offer free technical advice and assistance on how to create a positive teaching environment. We will make site visits where necessary and provide the right advice and assistance at every stage of a project, from concept to completion.”
