Building Communities in the East Midlands Awards launches for 2015

The first annual Building Communities in the East Midlands Awards (BCEMA) is set to be hosted by regional procurement consortium, Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) early next year.

Over the past four years EEM has worked alongside housing providers and councils across the region to procure the best quality products and services at the best value. Not only does it enable members to operate more efficiently, it works alongside hundreds of contractors, helping to drive local economies and develop employment and training opportunities.

The inaugural Building Communities in the East Midlands Awards has been set up by EEM to mark the work of the region’s housing organisations and contractors, both in the public and private sector. Award categories celebrate the collaborative working that goes into providing high quality service provision and exceptional maintenance and asset management programmes, which in turn helps build communities.

The event will be held on Friday 6th February 2015 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham and the deadline for entries is 12th December 2014.

The twelve award categories include:

  • Apprentice of the Year
  • Tenant of the Year
  • Project of the Year
  • Renewables and Sustainability
  • Corporate Responsibility
  • Training
  • Contractor of the Year
  • Health & Safety
  • Collaborative Working
  • Equality & Diversity
  • Innovation
  • Achiever of the Year

Pete Smith, Managing Director of Efficiency East Midlands, said:

“We work with 21 housing providers and hundreds of contractors across the East Midlands on a range of maintenance and asset management programmes.”

“As the need for new homes increases, and housing providers start to build new sustainable communities, it’s important to mark the fantastic work that goes into making this happen.”

“These awards are there to celebrate the region’s commitment to building communities, creating sustainable homes and working collaboratively to support affordable rent through innovative schemes. We want to hear about those programmes that have truly made a difference to communities, individuals or organisations.”

“We’re excited to be hosting the inaugural awards and look forward to watching them grow in popularity and prestige over the coming years.”

The awards are being organised by event specialists, Little Spark. The deadline for entries is 12th December 2014.
