As the UK’s only event dedicated to civil engineering and construction, Civils Expo will form a crucial part of UK Construction Week taking place at the Birmingham NEC on 18 – 20 October.
Growing from last years’ event, where it formed a section of Build Show, Civils Expo is now its own dedicated show backed by industry leaders including the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE).
Attracting 76 per cent of the UK’s local authorities, 70 per cent of the UK’s top house building firms and 100 per cent of the UK’s top 20 construction companies last year, Civils Expo as part of UK Construction Week is set to be the best place to showcase the latest technologies, systems and products in the civil sector.
Catering specifically for civil engineers, contractors, local authority developers, landscape architects, commercial home builders, site managers and central government, Civils Expo will host a wide selection of the industry’s top names.
Some of the companies already signed up to exhibit include global civil engineering giant CEMEX, discrete power supply innovators Pop Up Power Supplies, leading drainage specialists Clark Drain Ltd, global provider of access solutions Instant Upright and pioneering London project team from Tideway, to name but a few.
Commenting on his experience at last year’s show, James Fairclough, UK Head of Marketing at CEMEX, said:
“Last year’s event was a great success, our stand was very busy and we had lots of valuable customer interactions. It also gave us an ideal platform to launch three new innovative products.
“Coming back in 2016 was a foregone conclusion and we’re very much looking forward to building on the momentum of last year with an exciting new stand design and hopefully another product launch too.”
Central to the exhibition space will be the Infrastructure Hub. Supported by ICE, Transport for London, Highways England and HS2, the programme of content will cover the hottest topics in the sector including the expansion of England’s motorways and main roads, high speed railway and airport projects and the construction of nuclear power stations. Experts from across the field will discuss how the industry will cope with the challenges ahead and visitors will be able to take part in debates, practical workshops and networking events to further both their personal and business development.
In addition, visitors will be able to take in the wonder of construction with representatives from some of the countries largest and most iconic infrastructure projects in attendance. Seminars will focus in on major live projects and visitors can see the products and technologies first hand that are making them a reality. The event will also host two awards ceremonies in partnership with World Architecture News, the Concrete Awards and Infrastructure Awards – more information on these will follow in the near future.
Nathan Garnett, Show Director at Media 10 – the organisers of Civils Expo and UK Construction Week, commented:
“Civil engineering and infrastructure is a hot topic in the public eye at the moment with many large projects making progress as Britain gets building again. Civls Expo offers this sector a unique opportunity to come together, learn from one another and do business. The seminar schedule will be particularly engaging as experts from leading companies discuss high profile projects and the challenges faced by the industry in the coming years.”
Speaking on his experiences of the show Dr David Hancock, Head of Construction at the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, said:
“Having participated in the first UK Construction Week, it was very apparent to me that this event has the potential to change the image of construction. It can act as a catalyst for all of the construction supply chain, from products and manufacturers to end users, to meet and do business and be a place for us all to tackle the challenges we face head on.”
Visitors to Civils Expo will also benefit from the event’s co-location alongside eight other trade events being held at UK Construction Week. Offering the unique opportunity to network with individuals and companies from across the entire construction industry, visitors can explore five expansive halls of the NEC all packed with relevant products, services, features and businesses. Visitors will also benefit from a host of extra-curricular activities on offer such as a beer festival, casino night and awards ceremonies.
