Driven by innovation

wedi has always taken pride of its close proximity to its clientele. Right from the start, the aim of the brand has been to provide the construction industry with such solutions that are not only waterproof to the core, thermally insulating and straightforward to install but are also relevant, on-trend and make life easier for all involved – specifiers, contractors and installers alike.

It is no different now, 36 years after the foundation of wedi. Year in year out the tried-and-tested wedi range has developed and expanded further. Heading into 2020, there are numerous product innovations in the pipeline from tileable pre-formed construction elements through new sealing solutions to seamless design surface solutions.

Firstly, lets’ talk about new solutions to be used under the tiles. As the move towards plastered/rendered finishes grows in the UK, the flawless integration of wall hung toilets into the scheme is a common dilemma. From 2020, the new wedi I-Board Plus will provide an easy and straightforward, ready-to-install solution. This new cladding element – with all features and benefits of the standard wedi I-Board – includes a factory-integrated reinforcement plate to prevent indentation in the surface when finished with mosaic tiles or plaster.

Building of tailor-made tileable wash basins was always easy with the use of wedi building boards, however in 2020, wedi’s Sanbath range will expand to include a customised solution. The wedi Sanbath Wash Basin with linear drainage is wedi’s answer to the current demand for a stylish, on-trend solution with sophisticated channel drain. The new wash basin will be available to order in different widths ranging from 500mm to 1300mm, with various channel lengths of 300/700/800/900mm and with or without component holes for taps. Completing the package, a drain element and a standard stainless steel channel cover is included in the scope of delivery but of course, clients will have a choice to opt for a brushed stainless steel/exclusive or a tileable cover to suit.

The wedi Sanoasa range is already famous for its benches and modular seating solutions. Then again, recently there is a trend for clear linear solutions and wedi, as always, listens. The new wedi Sanoasa Floating bench will provide a customised solution in either a straight or corner system. Mounted on three sides without any substructure and with one stainless steel profile per element, its load bearing is a spectacular 170kg/m. The new seating solution will be available with carrying distances between 1500 and 3000mm and with or without integrated water heating and/or lighting to suit.
