Now in its 12th year, Britain’s home improvement exhibition Grand Designs Live concluded on Sunday 8 May with continued success across the board.
Over 100,000 visitors were welcomed over the 9 days at ExCeL London and with over 500 exhibitors on show, attendees were spoilt for choice.
Kevin McCloud appeared at the show stating:
“It’s the show that keeps on giving! What keeps it going is that it’s this great little adventure that we can all get involved with – the idea of making a place, making a home and improving our world.”
Kevin’s opening of the show was an undeniable highlight which saw his dramatic arrival alongside Harry Dwyer and Charlie Waller on the world’s first cardboard houseboat.
Further features at the show included The River Cottage Canteen, the Garden Design Competition and also The Bamboo Bicycle Club, who constructed a bicycle live from scratch over the course of three days.
On top of this, Grand Designs fans were drawn to the famed Ask an Expert, sponsored by Express bi-folding doors, which offered visitors the opportunity to have all their design questions answered personally by representatives from all fields including project management, technology and even RIBA Chartered Architects.
Nathan Garnett, Event Director, commented:
‘It’s been another hugely successful show for Grand Designs Live and after 12 years under Media 10 ownership, we are still showcasing the very latest in self build and eEco designed products, innovations and exhibitors. Even faced with running the exhibition over the hottest weekend of the year, we saw visitors flooding through the doors to get inspiration for their home projects’.
Grand Designs Live will return to Birmingham NEC from 19-23 October 2016 in conjunction with UK Construction Week.
