Horne Engineering’s Maintenance Training Seminar (MTS) – covering thermostatic mixing valves, showers and the Building Better Healthcare award-winning Optitherm thermostatic tap for clinical handwashing – are available free-of-charge to in-house maintenance teams and FM contract providers at NHS Trusts, private care operators, education and sport and leisure estate managers. Recently, the training seminar, which is delivered by Bill Smith at client’s premises, gained CPD approval by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
CIBSE CPD approval has also been granted for Horne’s seminar: HTM 04-01 Addendum, the role of tap outlet fittings and further measures to reduce Pseudomonad contamination in healthcare settings. This seminar details the background and subsequent investigations that resulted in the published Addendum to HTM 04-01 then explains the role the specialised tap outlet fitting plays in minimising retrograde contamination of taps and the last few metres of supply pipework – both in terms of its structure and materials of construction. In addition, the relative merits of chemical versus thermal disinfection, efficacy and methodology are discussed and explained.
