ISG is underway with its latest project for Morrisons in Surrey, building a new 70,000 sq ft foodstore in Weybridge.
The Weybridge project redevelops the site of a former DIY store and commercial office buildings, which ISG demolished in an earlier phase. The new store, which features the latest Morrisons offer including an in-store bakery and deli counter, is being delivered via a fast-track programme and is set for completion in late autumn 2014.
Constructed on stilts with a ground floor car park, the steel framed building efficiently occupies the site and incorporates a large first floor sales area and upper level staff room and administrative accommodation. Sensitively designed to reflect the local built environment, the store will feature a traditional brick façade and ISG will also complete the extensive hard and soft landscaping on the perimeter of the site.
In addition to the complex logistical challenges associated with building a scheme on a restricted site, ISG is completing an extensive road improvement programme, adapting the existing road layout and forming a new roundabout which also improves accessibility.
Alan McCarthy-Wyper, managing director of ISG’s Construction business, commented:
“Morrisons is an excellent and longstanding framework customer and I’m delighted that we’ve secured a further scheme in Surrey as the supermarket expands its store network in the region. This is a demanding project both logistically and from a programme perspective and is ideally suited to ISG’s wide-ranging experience delivering complex, fast-track new-build schemes within a business critical timeframe.“
