New recruits for Cornish consultancy

A planning-led architectural practice in Cornwall has recruited two new members of staff to its award-winning team.

Laurence Associates, which celebrates its 25th birthday this year, offers town planning, architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture expertise.

Part II architectural assistant, Nathan Gilbert, and associate planner, Jenna Swanson, have recently joined the practice. Their appointments bring the number of staff to 20.

Jenna Swanson, who has a background in both public and private practice, has extensive experience in planning applications, specialising in conservation, heritage, and design.

Jenna said,

“Achieving sustainability and helping to preserve Cornwall’s unique heritage is very important to me.”

“I was impressed by the company’s holistic approach to planning and architecture; it’s really joined-up, which is of great benefit to clients.”

“Laurence Associates has a great reputation and I’m really excited to be working here.”

Before relocating to Cornwall, Nathan Gilbert worked on the £30-million refurbishment of Croydon’s much-loved theatre, Fairfield Halls, a key part of the town’s ambitious multi-billion pound regeneration programme.

Nathan hopes to fully qualify as an architect in October, and is currently working on a range of projects, including barn conversions and bespoke house designs.

Managing Director, Richard Marsden, says the latest appointments allow the company to continue its expansion across the West Country.

He said,

“The past 12 months have been great for us, with successful planning decisions and appeals, as well as some really ambitious housing projects.”

“We want to attract more commissions from further afield, and these fantastic additions to our team will allow us to do that.”
