Offsite Solutions is one of first bathroom pod manufacturers to achieve NICEIC electrical accreditation

Offsite Solutions has become one of the first bathroom pod manufacturers in the UK to achieve NICEIC Approved Contractor accreditation for electrical installations. It now has a dedicated team of engineers inhouse who are responsible for electrical testing at its factory in Somerset.

A detailed assessment was carried out by NICEIC, the leading industry body for the assessment and certification of contractors working across the building services sector. The Offsite Solutions electrical testing team demonstrated that they meet the stringent industry standards and regulations for the factory installation of electrics in bathroom pods. Its qualified supervisors have been assessed for competence in inspection and testing in accordance with BS 7671.

Offsite Solutions offers the UK’s largest range of bathroom pods to suit a wide variety of building types and applications. Its engineers design and install electrics to meet specific project requirements, which can include heated towel rails, LED lighting, shaver sockets, underfloor heating, demister pads, heated walls, electric junction boxes, PIR sensors and LED cabinet lights.

These elements are all pre-installed offsite in the factory so the bathrooms and ensuite shower rooms arrive on site fully complete. The use of offsite manufacturing for bathroom construction can reduce the build programme by up to 20 weeks on a major project, for a faster return on investment for the developer and significantly less time on site for the contractor.

Commenting on this latest accreditation, Steve Dancer, Factory Manager at Offsite Solutions, said,

“To meet the rising demand for our bathroom pods and our ambitious plans for expanding the business, we took the decision to move the testing of electrics inhouse. We now have three full-time testing engineers and a team of around 20 electricians. Factory testing is an important part of our quality control processes.”

The completed electrical installation of every Offsite Solutions bathroom pod undergoes a full function and resistance test carried out by an NICEIC-approved electrician. Air and water tests are also carried out on every pod at pre-calibrated static testing stations in the factory. All outlets, including taps, showers and toilets, have water passed through. Test certificates are then provided to the contractor for both electrics and plumbing.

The Offsite Solutions range of bathroom pods has recently been expanded to include award-winning steel and concrete pods which have been developed for high specification wet rooms and luxury bathrooms. It also manufactures steel-framed pods with porcelain-tiled finishes for high-end apartments, student residences and hotels; robust and low maintenance GRP composite pods for student accommodation, care homes, social housing and healthcare, and demountable GRP pods for ease of installation in refurbishment schemes and projects with restricted access.
