PORCELANOSA Autumn Trends 2020

After an eventful decade and an unprecedented 2020, we can see the effects of these reflected in upcoming interior design trends.

We have all had to create a new normal for ourselves outside of the usual work environment and our hygienic awareness has probably never been greater.

Noken, the bathroom company of the PORCELANOSA Group, has a full range of touch-free bathroom furnishings to encourage the prevention and control of infectious diseases. The touch-free range includes wall mounted electronic taps, automatic soap and gel dispensers and the Noken sanitaryware range, including infrared flushing systems for both WCs and urinals.

Freestanding baths have also become more sought after as we look to make the most of the space we have throughout our homes. They allow you to use the space you have more creatively and, crucially, are diverse in their styles, so can effortlessly work with both compact and larger bathrooms.

At the beginning of the year we saw a ‘return to nature’ trend rising. Following on from working from home, it is unsurprising to see that the dominant trend is very much ‘remaining among nature’.

As the roads were quieter while we were all cooped up inside, we saw wildlife reclaiming the streets. Similarly, we want nature to reclaim our homes, and where plants aren’t possible, we’ve turned to nature inspired prints, fabrics and decorative objects.

Tied up within the nature theme, natural stone tiles are proving a popular choice. Whether they’re used as floor or wall tiles, worktop surfaces or shower cubicles, natural stone tiles can bring a varied and textured look to your home.

Subway / Metro style tiles, with their distinctive proportions, finishes and profiles, are also making a comeback. Over the years the Subway tile has evolved to include square shape versions, developing a more pronounced beveled edge and larger proportions.

Although Subway tiles are thin, low-fired, glazed ceramic wall tiles, they can also be made from other materials such as glass and stone. For anyone who wants to give their kitchen décor a retro vintage feel that is both practical and hygienic, the Subway tile is perfect. Easily cleaned with a simple wipe of a cloth.
