Revolutionary new timber windows for listed properties

High quality timber window and door specialist Gowercroft Joinery has developed an award-winning range of Heritage Windows designed specifically for listed properties and the conservation market.

Revolutionary in their design, the new Winston heritage sliding sash and Richmond heritage flush casement windows are the first of a new generation of high-tech timber windows, which successfully replicate the classic appearance of single-glazed windows of the past, whilst delivering modern performance benefits.

With their unique combination of traditional detailing in high quality Accoya® timber, Pilkington Spacia™ ultra-thin vacuum glazing and the latest in micro-porous paint coatings, they are able to deliver the best of all worlds: a genuinely slim aesthetic with no double reflection, plus modern levels of heat and noise insulation, low maintenance, durability, sustainability and low life-cycle costs.

Key benefits:-

  • Traditional detailing. Authentic features of this classic timber window include: 18mm internal and external glazing bars, fully concealed gaskets, a putty line neatly replicated in the outer profile and a selection of period style ironware.
  • Durability. It is manufactured from Accoya®, a highly sustainable acetylated wood with the best longevity of any timber available on the market, and a 70-year minimum service life as stated by TRADA.
  • Ultra-slim glazing. Pilkington Spacia™ vacuum glazing (the air is extracted to form a vacuum cavity between the panes) has a total thickness of 6.2mm, which is as slim as a traditional single glazed window, often stipulated by conservation officers. Furthermore, the 0.2mm cavity creates no discernible double reflection.
  • Exceptional energy performance. Whole window U-values of 1.5 W/m2K (delivered on an industry standard sized testing window) are better than standard double-glazed timber windows and surpass modern Part L Building Regulation requirements applicable to new build properties.
  • Fully factory finished. A specially formulated micro-porous paint system delivers an exceptional finish quality, which has been rigorously tested for its longevity and ultra-low maintenance.
  • Long guarantees. There is a full 10-year guarantee on all elements of the window. No maintenance is required on the paint finish for the first 10-years.

Already installed in many prestigious historic buildings nationwide, including the impressive restoration of Grade II Listed Templeton House in Roehampton, a former home of Winston Churchill, the Heritage Range is now widely specified in Conservation Areas across the country.

Andrew Madge, Managing Director of Gowercroft Joinery said:

“We believe that for the first time, the heritage sector has a modern solution, which respects building conservation, whilst meeting modern lifestyle aspirations and we are confident that the Heritage Range will radically change how windows are specified in listed buildings and older properties in the future.”

Winston and Richmond Heritage windows won ‘Best Windows’ category in 2017, ‘Build It Awards’ and were shortlisted in the ‘New Product of the Year’ category in the G18 awards.
