The residential development known as The Eagle (www.eagleoldst.com) has thrown open its doors this week on London’s City Road, representing a stunning new addition to this rapidly progressing area. The latest scheme from central London property developer Mount Anvil, The Eagle’s new marketing suite is now ‘open for business’ for this hotly anticipated new development a stone’s throw from both the City and Shoreditch alike, and adjacent to Old Street Roundabout.
The 26-storey, art deco inspired tower will feature 276 new homes, including 206 private units ranging from studios to four-bedroom penthouses, with prices starting from £450,000. Spectacular panoramic views of the London skyline, a 12-seat cinema, 24-hour concierge, and resident’s spa and adjoining gym will all add to the appeal of this new development.
Communal podium landscaped gardens have been designed by award winning landscape architects Hassell, and the streetscape has already benefitted from the introduction of trees and new paving to City Road.
Further amenities include a basement car park and a combined 66,000 square feet of commercial and retail space on the lower ground, ground and first floors featuring offices, shops, a restaurant and a café.
Art deco inspiration
The design for this scheme has been developed by award winning architect planners Farrells, led by Sir Terry Farrell. It will add a distinctive building to City Road and represents the new face of East London, positively contributing to its urban context whilst being responsive to local needs and culture.
The art deco inspiration for the scheme continues through its visual identity, conceived by creative agency me&dave. In addition, an adventurous new social and multi-media campaign – #OldStNewRules – is encouraging potential residents to explore the different dimensions of this melting pot area.
For residents of The Eagle, their new home promises to be a brilliant blend of style and comfort. In particular, kitchens will feature two-tone (white and graphite) lacquered high-gloss design, state-of-the-art Siemens appliances, reconstituted stone worktops and chrome detailing throughout.
The bathrooms will feature double-ended baths, porcelain basins with Corian surrounds, ceiling mounted shower heads and black porcelain tiles with a mother-of-pearl mosaic feature. Living spaces are home to herringbone laid smoked oak flooring, and sumptuous charcoal bamboo carpets can be found in the bedrooms.
Brian De’ath, Sales Director of Mount Anvil, comments:

The Eagle was acquired in a joint venture with ARES Management and Morgan Stanley. The 70 affordable homes will be managed by Family Mosaic. With a development value of more than £160million, practical completion of the scheme is expected in Summer 2015.
