Tridonic appoints Martin Thompson to lead its new customer support services

Tridonic, a leading manufacturer and supplier of components for the full range of luminaires, has appointed Martin Thompson to the new role of Field Service and Product Development Engineer. The creation of this new position is the company’s first step in a planned programme to enhance the range and quality of support that it offers to its OEMs and other key audiences including architects and specifiers.

Richard Strode, who was appointed UK managing director last autumn, said:

“Tridonic has extensive experience and knowledge on lighting, its benefits and how to manage it efficiently and we are now making sure that this can be shared with our partners. We hope that with Martin in place we will be able to work in partnership with our customers from the earliest stages of a project right through to post commissioning and maintenance.

“Tridonic has certainly kept its own skills ‘in the dark’ and I am looking forward to working with both new and existing clients to help them fully understand the potential of Tridonic’s diverse product range coupled with the consultancy and design expertise that exists within the company.”

Whilst LEDs are regarded by many as the ‘be all’ for future developments, existing fluorescent lighting products are well developed and still account for the larger part of the commercial lighting market. Thompson will use his and Tridonic’s extensive experience to ensure that the company’s well established range of Fixed Output & Dimming ballasts continue to receive the necessary technical support and back up, alongside the newer LED ranges as appropriate.

Thompson has worked in the lighting industry for nearly 30 years including previous roles at Tridonic where he was instrumental in managing the introduction of HF fluorescent control gear, the change from T8 to T5 as standard, Dali dimming products and unique Tridonic features such as SwitchDim, DSI & plug in Smart Sensors.
