Zaha Hadid Design participates in 10×10 London for Article 25

Article 25’s mission is to help improve the futures of vulnerable communities often living in the aftermath of disasters, through building excellent, resilient infrastructure and space for health, education and fulfilling livelihoods. 10×10 London is Article 25’s annual fundraising event.

10×10 is a unique concept, with architects, designers and artists producing artwork inspired by the environment they help to create, as well as providing a commentary and critique on the constantly changing landscape of the capital. Following online bidding, these works will be auctioned during a fundraising reception on Thursday 22th November 2018.

The 10×10 theme this year focuses on London’s largest contemporary infrastructure project – the new 100km Elizabeth line of the city’s urban rail network. Through its development, key transport hubs along its route will transform the urban landscape, offering London a new experience of the city.

An abstracted grid of one hundred squares traces the route of the Elizabeth line through central London, from Bond Street station to Liverpool Street and the City, with each designer assigned a square as reference for their 10×10 artwork.

Informed by Zaha Hadid Architects’ design of the Serpentine Sackler Gallery (2013) in London’s Kensington Gardens, this year’s 10×10 piece by  Zaha Hadid Design combines techniques and concepts evident in Zaha Hadid’s early relief models, with transparency and layering adding depth to the piece.
