Levitt Bernstein has been selected by Eastbourne Borough Council to lead a design team to transform Devonshire Park in Eastbourne. The team was selected from 5 competing design teams.

Devonshire Park is currently home to 3 Grade II/II* listed theatres, the International Lawn Tennis Centre and world class lawn tennis courts, an art gallery, conference facilities, and several council office buildings and is already host to six major tennis tournaments each year including the prestigious pre Wimbledon Aegon tournament. Levitt Bernstein will work alongside sports consultants TrioPlus Sport & Leisure to enhance the tennis facilities on site. The planned transformation will build upon and diversify the Park’s strengths with the ambition for Devonshire Park to become one of the UK’s most distinctive and talked about cultural places.

The transformed Devonshire Park will be both a celebration of the park’s past and a catalyst to its future. Key heritage buildings including the Devonshire Park Theatre, Congress Theatre and Winter Gardens as well as the surrounding public realm will be renewed, maximising their usability whilst simultaneously connecting currently disparate elements of the Park and improving the Park’s connection to the seafront and town centre.
