Scottish Futures Trust is working with every single local authority across Scotland to drive forward the Scottish Government’s £1.25bn Scotland’s Schools for the Future programme.

SFT’s role is to efficiently and effectively manage the programme to help local authorities achieve the very best value for money for their investment in new schools.

In September 2010, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Pumpherston and Uphall Station Community Primary School was carried out by the then Skills Minister Keith Brown. The school, near Livingston, was the first to be funded through the £1.25bn Scotland’s Schools for the Future programme and was officially opened in February 2012.

To date, 11 schools have been completed and are open; nine schools (a mix of primary and secondary) are currently being built, and construction of further schools is expected to start during the 2013 – 2014 financial year.
