Led by Architect Kaan Alkan, Equine Design Studio, specializing in equestrian sports clubs and stud farm design, aims to increase interest in equestrian sports and establish an exemplary center at international standards with the Konuralp Gazi Equestrian Facility, which will be developed on a 113,829.40 sqm site in partnership with Düzce Municipality.
Designed with a holistic approach that accommodates users of all levels, the facility addresses a broad profile ranging from first time visitors to professional athletes. The progressive experience begins with pony arenas and pony stables and continues with indoor and outdoor arenas, training and warm up areas, and competition arenas built to meet international standards. Thanks to this multi layered program, the facility can operate with high efficiency both in daily use and during large scale events.
Preserving the natural environment was considered one of the primary design inputs. Monumental trees on the site were protected and integrated into the backbone of the design, while walking paths and riding trails were planned in harmony with the existing natural texture. In this way, the project aims to offer visitors a strong spatial experience integrated with nature.
The restaurant and cafe areas within the facility, together with the modern Club House structure overlooking both indoor and outdoor arenas, as well as offices and exhibition spaces, were designed as high comfort environments that support social and public use. These areas ensure that the facility remains vibrant and sustainable not only during competition periods but also in everyday use.
Throughout the design process shaped by international competition standards, functional clarity, safe and controlled circulation, and a high quality viewing experience were adopted as key criteria. Competition and training areas were deliberately separated to ensure safe and efficient management of density during event periods. Strong visual connections established between the grandstands, Club House, and open areas enhance the spectator experience, while the comfort of both horses and athletes remains at the core of the design.
Designed by Equine Design Studio, the Konuralp Gazi Equestrian Facility introduces a new value to Düzce’s sports and social life with its contemporary architectural language, sustainable approach, and comprehensive sports infrastructure, standing as an equestrian complex capable of hosting competitions at an international scale.
