The contemporary yet respectfully designed Galerie Šantovka has been constructed on a derelict, post- industrial site and the development has been described as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area, creating a dynamic new civic space for the city of Olomouc.
Located in the east of the Czech Republic and occupying a prominent position within the centre of the city, the 46,000m2 new build, retail-led scheme includes leisure facilities and commercial space. The three main levels of trading feature 200 shopping units.
The external façades have a fresh and modern design but also reference the local vernacular by incorporating similar materials and the historic colour palette. Extensive landscaping throughout the development has created a relaxing ‘Riverside Green Corridor’, and al fresco dining terraces bring new life into this striking destination. The new Riverside Plaza and Terraces are linked to the city and wider regions by a new tram-stop and pedestrian link bridge; this bridge connects directly to the upper trading levels thus balancing customer footfall and rental values within the centre.
