Panasonic & Finn Geotherm shortlisted in the UK Green Business Awards 2023

Panasonic is pleased to announce that a recent install at Paragon House – University of West London, has been shortlisted in the ‘Green Heat Project’ category of the UK Green Business Awards. Panasonic worked in partnership with installers Finn Geotherm on this bespoke and ground-breaking project to install three x 210kW air-to-water heat pump units. The winners of the awards will be announced at a celebratory dinner at Leonardo Royal Hotel in London on the 29 June 2023.

The project at Paragon House at University of West London, has seen a ground-breaking first for Europe and the UK, with the installation of three 210kW Panasonic air-to-water heat pumps with a bespoke cascading thermostatic control system to heat the entire building. The team at Finn Geotherm worked closely with Panasonic’s European R&D and UK teams testing and verifying data to produce an end solution that is estimated to save the university approx. 1,058,000 kWh of energy per year.

Jose Alves, UK Country Manager for Panasonic commented,

“We are delighted to be finalists in the Green Heat Project category of the UK Green Business Awards. These prestigious awards highlight the standards that must be met to create innovative and energy efficient solutions in the transition to create a net zero and more sustainable future. It is a top priority within Panasonic to work together with our partners, such as Finn Geotherm, to take such huge energy saving steps forward like, with Paragon House. This project being shortlisted confirms our dedication towards a low carbon future.”

The Panasonic 210kW heat pump units installed at Paragon house offer outstanding efficiency with extremely high SEER and SCOP figures, can operate in temperatures as lows a -17oC in heating mode, are quiet in operation, offer a customisable design with capacities from 20k to 210kW, and can be integrated into a BMS control system. Overall the project is expected to save in excess of 500 tonnes of CO2 per annum.

Guy Ransom, Commercial Director at Finn Geotherm adds,

“We have worked with Panasonic air source heat pumps over a number of years now and have developed a trusted two-way partnership with the Panasonic team. It has been amazing to work on this project, the first of its kind in Europe. It pushes the envelope for similar large renovation projects in the future that are looking to decarbonise their heating system- it’s really exciting that it is getting recognised on this scale”.
